In Beaufort, the town is the culture, and its seascape is the canvas. A flourishing arts community of painters, photographers, sculptors, and writers reside here, as evidenced by the numerous galleries, all within walking distance of the docks. The best way to see the town is by bicycle. Pedal through 300 years of history, past 18th and 19th century homes nestled behind white picket fences. To see the town from a different point of view, the popular Beaufort Ghost Walk covers approximately nine blocks and lasts around one hour. You will be entertained by pirate guides, who will regale you with an enjoyable assortment of chilling stories about ghost ships and haunted houses. Possibly the best way, with its unique vantage point, is to travel through Taylors Creek, between the town and the Rachel Carson Reserve looking from the water towards the town. A few boat charter companies do this including Captain Ron's Island Tours and H2O Captain Eco-Tour Private Boat Excursions.
